Single class $25, or $18 concession. All 10 class package $200 or $150 concession. During these classes we will explore the Alexander Technique, breathing, voice and movement. These classes will be a great way to explore your body, breath and being, and how to ease pain and discomfort. A group class is a great way to explore this work. During the last course we all learnt so much and also had heaps of fun. The Alexander Technique is a way of exploring and improving the way we use ourselves in every activity we do, it helps us take care of ourselves. Kathy Stephenson and Helen Morrison formed The Quiet Zone in 2021 to share their passion for live harp music played in therapeutic contexts, including health and wellbeing settings.
The Quiet Zone is a safe space for relaxation restoration and coming back to centre. Be captivated by the beauty of live harp music while being guided through a range of meditative activities, including mindfulness, meditation, stillness, poetry, movement, soundscapes and art. Helen (music educator) and Kathy (counsellor) are experienced workshop presenters and bring a wealth of wisdom and knowledge to create an emotionally safe and held space. Participants are invited, through the healing power of the harp, to reconnect with the self and restore a sense of balance within a nurturing and soothing atmosphere. Kathy is a well-known counsellor operating her private counselling practice ‘Tulip Tree Therapy’ in the Huon Valley and consults with clients in various locations in Hobart. Helen runs a successful music studio in South Hobart teaching harp piano and cello. She enjoys walks in nature and in her spare time presents a radio show ‘Mostly Folk on Hobart FM. The Ashtanga Primary Series is called “Yoga Chikitsa” or yoga therapy.
As a postural sequence, it is designed to tone the nervous system, build strength, and cultivate flexibility. The class will be guided at a slow and steady pace with adaptations to make it accessible for all — whether you are just starting out or familiar with the practice. $15 Casual. At Hobart Breathing Space this term we also have the lovely Eri Mullooly-Hill Konishi with her Befriending Our Bodies classes. These classes provide a space for people to tune into their body and cultivate body awareness. The class follows a simple structure and is guided through various movements incorporating some of the elements we find in Yoga and meditation, holding the Dance Movement Psychotherapy approach at its heart. There is no need for previous experience and you are invited to join within your body limits (through listening to your body). Come along and try. All welcome. This women’s yoga circle offers you a chance to restore, replenish and rejuvenate your whole being through authentic self-expression and exploration. This is a space for you to deep dive into our inherent interconnectedness, to learn from and feel the support of other women. Each circle will be themed around an intention or topic, to be explored through a combination of yoga and movement, reflective meditations, creative practices and a safe container for sharing together. We circle together to be seen, to have our stories heard and to be celebrated and supported in our truest expression. There is no pressure to share, witnessing is welcome too. Practices will be gentle and restorative and all ages and levels of experience are welcome. What’s included: Each month with be a little different but will typically include a combination of a supportive sharing/discussion space, gentle hatha yoga or other movement, meditation and pranayama, yoga nidra to allow the nervous system to rest and restore, journalling practice, ritual and intention setting, chai and herbal tea.
