Alexander Technique

Weekly drop in Monday night classes 6.30pm to 8.30pm with Penny McDonald and Jacob Golding.
Group Classes are an excellent way to learn the Alexander Technique.

The Alexander Technique has changed my life and the lives of so many people that I work with. It is very exciting to teach you how to look after yourself.
We teach the Alexander Technique to people of all ages and backgrounds who wish to find ease of movement. We help you learn to cooperate with the design of your body, to free up your breathing and to help you find a way of being gentle and kind to yourself. It’s all about finding a useful way of inviting the body to work more efficiently.
We also provide specialised training in the Alexander Technique for actors, musicians, dancers and performers. The focus here is on finding connection through yourself, to better connect to the audience. All while having fun.

These 2-hour sessions provide more exploration time than private lessons, are more cost-effective, and offer the unique opportunity to learn from others' experiences.
Each class focuses on the fundamental principles of the Alexander Technique, such as freeing up your body, breath, and voice. We do this by understanding how the body and breath function and learning to identify how we interfere with our body, breath, and voice. We also recognise the physical and mental habits that prevent us from achieving our best.
In each class, there will also be individual time for you to focus on your specific interests or concerns, such as exploring a text, playing a musical instrument, addressing back pain, practicing public speaking, improving your posture at your computer, or even perfecting your gardening technique. Above all, these classes are always enjoyable.
Why attend weekly? Keeping your body, breath, and voice in prime condition is a craft that requires regular practice. We learn to pay attention to our actions, how we perform them, and how to initiate change when necessary. Unfortunately, we can't erase our old patterns; we must continually practice overriding them.

We hope can join us on Monday nights to learn this ‘Skill for life

Breathwork and Body Centered Counselling with Ninna Millikin

Breathwork draws on the ancient understanding that our breath is a direct access point to our many layers of human experience, and Body-Centred counselling is an effective grounding for working with trauma.

A session is a supported exploration of your inner life and an experience of insight, healing, and release. My tools enable you to be fully present with yourself, tune in to your body and meet what arises when you slow down and listen. When you return to ordinary consciousness, I support the integration of your new wisdom into your life.

WHEN: Sessions are 1.5 hours and offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
COST: $140 unwaged, $150-$160 waged $170 pay it forward/assist sessions for First Nations women.

Boundless Bonds with Nina Nelson:
A mindfulness practice of body-centred rope tying

At Boundless Bonds with Nina, we've woven aspects of the ancient art of Japanese Shibari into a contemporary body-centred mindfulness approach, where the focus is on cultivating mental and physical wellbeing using the sensations of rope and rope-tying/binding as the point of focus.  This can be a solo practice or shared with a partner to create a deeper sense of trust and connection, both physically and emotionally.  Rope workshops and social tying events are held periodically throughout the year. See our events page or boudlessbonds.com.au for upcoming event details.
